The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) yesterday said the industrial relations climate in the country remains stable as the government continuously exerts all efforts in settling labor disputes, along with lesser notices of strike filed with the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) in the first nine months of 2005.
In a report to Labor and Employment Secretary Patricia A. Sto. Tomas, the NCMB said the number of strike notices filed as of September 30, 2005 was lower by 11 percent at 384 compared to the 430 cases filed during the same period last year.
Sto. Tomas said workers involved in these notices also declined by one percent at 98,196 as against the 99,284 workers involved a year ago.
She said of the total notices filed during the first nine months of the year, 259 involved unfair labor practices, 98 cases raised the issue of deadlock in collective bargaining negotiations and 27 cases have a combination of unfair labor practice and bargaining deadlock issues.
