CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Region 10 office of the National Bureau of Investigation was informed last Wednesday of sex video tapes circulating in Cagayan de Oro City as authorities started investigating people suspected to be behind the reproduction of the video.
In an interview, Cagayan de Oro Mayor Vicente Emano voiced concern about the pornographic material and ordered the police to apprehend people distributing the video.
The mayor hinted that drugs might have influenced the "lovers" to do their act in the video.
The mayor said although it was "consensual sex," still it is a source of embarrassment not only to the couple but also to their parents.
The video that is in compact disc (CD) format has a running time of 47 minutes and is being called by the local media circle as "The Xavier Sex (XU) Scandal."
Other sources said the female in the sex video was a beauty tilt contestant.
The Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB) for movie houses and amusement is also investigating the matter.
Last week, RCB confirmed reports that a resident sent a letter complaining about the presence of hidden cameras.
There were no other details provided in the letter and it was not known if it was related to the "Xavier" sex video.
Earlier, the RCB said it had warned motels against installing cameras in their rooms, saying this violates the privacy of the guests. (Gerry Gorit)
