Question: Hi. Is it possible to use MS Outlook 2003 as my default e-mail browser to access my yahoo mail? - Nonoy Ativo
Dr. J: Yes but you need to have a paid subscription Yahoo Mail account that includes POP3 access and forwarding. Free Web browser-based Yahoo Mail accounts cannot be accessed in Outlook. You can configure this both in Yahoo or in Outlook. For Yahoo, you can manage this under Mail Options and click the POP Access and Forwarding link. For Outlook, you can do this under Tools / Email Acounts then add a new e-mail account where you specify your Yahoo email account.

Question: Good Day Dr. J., I came across also with the same problem encountered by Dr. Rommel on your Technews MB issue dated Sept. 28, 2005. While burning on a DVD format at 760 x 480 pixels can improve the picture quality, I am just wondering why those VCDs commercially available or rented from Video Shops have clear copies/good quality compared to the quality I obtained from my video recorded/burned in VCD format. I understand they are just of the same VCD format at 352 x 240 pixels. I am using firewire IEEE 1394 DV cable in transferring recordings from digital video camera to the PC. What best video editing software would you recommend that is user friendly and can produce good result? Thanks and more power - MGR Palawan
Dr. J: Yes, you are right in saying that they are of the same VCD format at 352 x 240 pixels. But then again the underlying difference is the source. Movie companies uses their master copy to create their VCD copies. You may achieve a better quality if you're using a 3CCD camera. Regarding the best video editing software, I am using Adobe Premier. I am not saying that it is the best and is user friendly but it is the video editing software that I am comfortable with.

Question: I just would like to ask how did you change the START bottom at the left side below with your name or initials? thnx. more power. - Jomar Dychengco
Dr. J: Create a backup copy of Explorer.exe first (ExplorerBak.exe). Save it outside the Windows folder. Using your Hex editor, open the file "Explorer.exe" from your Windows directory. Search for the series of values "5300 7400 6100 7200 74", This is the word "Start". The value apeears right before the string "There was an internal error and one of the windows you were using has been closed. It is recommended that you save your work and close all programs, and then restart your computer". You may replace the letters in the word "Start" with five other characters. Save it using another name (Explorernew.exe). Reboot into DOS mode, rename "Explorer.exe" to "Explorer.bak" then rename "Explorenew.exe" to "Explorer.exe". If something went wrong, bring back the original Explorer.exe using ExplorerBak.exe. Goodluck!
