Do you really think that there is a need to declare "a state of national emergency" now?

As the Department of Justice (DOJ) submitted to Malacanang the five-paged draft of the so-called "declaration of a state of national emergency", DOJ secretary Raul Gonzalez said, in the draft, that government, under emergency rule, will take over vital industries while the country's situation is still uncertain. He added that the declaration is not connected to the declaration of martial law. But most observers say otherwise and are skeptical about it.

De Castro defends relocation of Northrail settlers
Vice President Noli de Castro, concurrent Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chairman, yesterday denied allegations of overpricing and corruption in the government’s P6 billion relocation program for some 41,000 families of informal settlers displaced by the Northrail project.
