And that includes the controversial La Salle slotman Mark Benitez, who has made himself scarce since DLSU surprised the public last Wednesday by announcing it is returning the UAAP Season 67 championship trophy it won after "fielding an ineligible player."
"Basta lahat ng naging member ng UAAP Season 68 team namin eh welcome sa trip to Hawaii. This is part of their reward," said Pumaren.
"But it depends. Some of my players have various commitments like those who are graduating. Pero kasama yung mga eligible pa next year," he added.
However, Pumaren neither confirmed nor deny if Benitez is really missing.
Benitez has been the subject of scrutiny by the La Salle officials. DLSU Executive Vice President Carmelita Quebengco said they have been trying to reach Benitez, who is now the subject of La Salle’s four-man committee, which seeks to investigate the player who submitted false high school records.
Several internet sites have brandished Benitez as the one, who allegedly forwarded spurious documents, which made him "ineligible for admission to La Salle now participation with the Green Archers."
Meanwhile, Pumaren, who has steered La Salle to seven Finals appearances, spiked with five UAAP crowns, said he is calling a team meeting tomorow to mark the Green Archers’ resumption of practice as part of their year-long preparation for their title bid in the 2006 season.
Veterans like Joseph Yeo, Jun-jun Cabatu and JR Aquino, who won’t be back next season, are welcome to join the team meeting, said Pumaren.
ICTSI, La Salle’s chief backer in the Philippine Basketball League has taken a leave of absence in the coming PBL season dubbed the Heroes Cup.
But the Green Archers have been spread evenly to different PBL teams through the dispersal draft held on Thursday.
Benitez, the 6’5" center, who saw action for the JRU Light Bombers in the 2000 and 2001 season, has been picked to reinforce the comebacking Hapee Toothpaste this coming season.
Yeo and Cabatu, two of La Salle’s reliable starters in the recent 2005 UAAP campaign parted ways after being picked by Harbour Centre and Welcoat Paints, respectively.
La Salle bowed to Far Eastern University almost two weeks ago in a tightly-fought UAAP championship series, 0-2.
