Miriam bags midget title

MIRIAM COLLEGE capitalized on a missed free throw by St. Scholastica’s College in the dying seconds to prevail, 39-38, and kept the midget crown yesterday in the WNCAA 36th season basketball at the SSC gym.

St. Scho top gun Camille Ramos split her charity shots in the final 10 seconds to allow Miriam to escape with the win.

Miriam also held St. Scho scoreless in the second quarter to turn a 4-10 first quarter deficit into a 15-10 contest at halftime.

Miriam took Game 1, 45-29, while Scho tied the series in Game 2, 45-41. Miriam’s Therese Buenconsejo was named Most Valuable Player and was joined in the Mythical Five by teammate Bianca Belar-mino, St. Scho’s Ramos and Maria Tala Exconde and De La Salle Zobel’s Sara Monica Bo-ot.

Miriam’s Frances Magno was adjudged champion coach.
