Kids are capable of eating a whole cow sometimes! Often, they crave fried chicken, spaghetti and ice cream. Things that mom cannot serve daily on the table. Things that mom think are high class junk food from fast food chains. This was the on-going debate one night in our family after church and grocery shopping. And if you have kids, I think you have an idea how the case was rested.
Since fast foods are out and health was an issue, we carefully chose a place where we can have the kiddie staple without sacrificing quality. Pazzo! An Italian restaurant in the middle of our search at the Rockwell Power Plant’s basement food court. A compromise was reached…
They have a Kid’s Menu featuring all-time greats like Spaghetti Bolognese, Spaghetti Carbonara and Chicken. Plus, they have a Gelato Station with popular flavors and a homemade feel.
The Spaghetti Carbonara was even a healthier version of my recipe. The white sauce was lighter without sacrificing the creaminess. The noodles were al dente but just soft enough for the kids to chew. My eldest had no complaints while cleaning up the rest of her plate. The Spaghetti Bolognese, on the other hand, exemplifies the sweet local spaghetti. The ground beef was cooked very well. No tough meat at all. It must be the more expensive kind of ground beef. Since it’s a sweeter recipe than the regular one, my second kid adored it more than the fast food counterpart.
My husband and I had the Pizza Ligurie. It is pizza that has shrimp, basil leaves, and tomatoes. The basil leaves were a good complement to the shrimp. It takes out the fishy feel and gives the pizza character. This time this seafood pizza has something better to offer than just shrimp!
One of my favorite Pazzo appetizer are the Bread Sticks. The focaccia bread slices are served fresh from the oven with three kinds of dips: basil pesto, herbed butter and tomato-based pesto. I could have had a better than good snack of it was available. The waitress said they ran out of focaccia bread! Well, since it was just 10:00 pm and they are a service-oriented business, I should think that they can serve anything at anytime during their dining hours. Maybe my order was not that pricey or maybe the staff wanted to go home already.
The ice cream was very delicious and quickly transports you to Italy heaven! It will make you feel that you didn’t sin enough. It tastes safe and healthy. One scoop’s enough!
Pazzo Italian Restaurant is an unassuming place with authentic Italian dishes. Food’s often served fast. Due to the fast pace, the wait can’t really be friendly and patient. They forgot to refill our water at times but we forgave them. The kids loved their spaghetti, didn’t they?
