No better Trump than Martha Stewart

She may be the most distinguishable personality when it comes to American lifestyle, but Martha Stewart is little known here in the country, unless you’ve come across her awardwinning magazine, Martha Stewart Living, and seen her television show of the same title, or frequent late night cable talk shows where she and her five-month jail sentence have been the hottest satire next to Michael Jackson. Martha Stewart is indeed as controversial as she is successful, and the Philippines learns why starting this Tuesday, October 18, 10PM when ABC premieres this lifestyle guru’s very own reality show: The Apprentice: Martha Stewart.

The last three seasons of Apprentice has been big hits in the US, and has hooked a cult following here in the country via ABC. But Apprentice’s centerpiece business magnate Donald Trump and "Apprentice" and "Survivor" producer Mark Burnett found the idea of creating an Apprentice spinoff this time with a female "Trump," even more promising. With Martha Stewart’s indisputable record in the business arena (In April 2005, she was included among the 100 most influential men and women of the year in TIME magazine’s annual "TIME 100" list; was a successful chief executive of her company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, a business powerhouse with revenues of $295M in 2002. She stepped down after being indicted in 2004), marked popularity (Martha Stewart is a household name in the United States, thanks to her stable of books, magazines and multimedia offerings — all of which tell the American public how to eat, dress, marry, garden and entertain in greater style), and a hot controversial status emerging fresh from a five-month jail sentence in Alderson, West Virginia for conspiracy and obstruction (she was convicted of lying to federal investigators about a suspicious share sale), the Apprentice producers couldn’t have found a better trump.

Ten women and six men will compete to become Martha Stewart’s first "Apprentice." This esteemed group of creative entrepreneurs will contend for thirteen weeks on tasks related to Martha Stewart’s area of expertise – publishing, apparel, entertainment and branding. Among the candidates are ad executives, creative directors, accomplished chefs, lawyers, designers, a magazine publisher, and a TV newscaster. Joining Stewart in the conference room as her "lieutenants" are her daughter Alexis Stewart, Consultant, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. and Charles Koppelman, Chairman of the Board, MSLO. As the winner of the competition, Martha Stewart’s "Apprentice" will be granted the dream job of a lifetime working for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc with a hefty sixfigure salary.

The Apprentice Martha Stewart premiered in the US via NBC last September, side-by-side Donald Trump’s Apprentice Season Four. The Philippines also gets to feel the impact of this twin reality force when ABC premieres Donald Trump’s The Apprentice Season 4 this Monday, October 17 at 10PM. Donald on Mondays, and Martha on Tuesdays. Now, what would be Martha’s version of Donald’s crisp catch phrase "you’re fired"? Catch that on ABC.
