At long last... Richard Reynoso in concert!

It will be a concert of intimacy... a retrospective... nandoon na ang lahat," that’s how Richard Reynoso described his forthcoming concert, "At Long Last... Richard Reynoso" which will be held on Oct. 29, at the Music Museum.

"I haven’t done anything like this before," Richard admitted. But he has won several awards and nominations from prestigious music fest events.

While it is his full concert, Richard personally invited Ara Mina, Aiza Seguerra and Rico J. Puno to join and give him support in the concert.

"I’m so happy they all agreed to join me in my concert," Richard stressed.

It was the impression for a while that Richard has left showbiz. But in the contrary, he has been so busy out of the country to fulfill a lot of singing engagements.

In fact, it was when he was going to Japan that he found his "love at first flight," and they got married later, and like the legendary tale, "they have been living happily ever after."

Gus Aldeguer, who is directing the show, described Richard as "having the voice and charm."

If we measure Richard Reynoso through the awards and nominations he has received, he is an excellent artist, an entertainer above the common crop.

Richard won second during the 1st KBP Musicfest for his "Isang Dugo, Isang Lahi, Isang Musika."

He won nominations in the 1990 Tinig Awards for the Classical and Kundiman Category; four nominations in the 1991 Awit Awards for Best Performance by a Male Artist, Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Ballad Recording, as well as Best Revival by a Male Artist in 1992 and an award for Artist in Excellence given during the 1997 Philippine-American Convention and Exposition in California, USA.

Richard has seven albums already to his credit, five in CD format which attained gold and platinum awards. Among his most memorable songs were "Hindi Ko Kaya," "Paminsan-minsan," "Maala-ala Mo Pa Rin" and "Kahit Sino."

Between 1987 and 1992, Richard recorded 12 local movie theme songs. In 1987-1994, he starred in 14 movies, including the Vilma Santos-Christopher de Leon starrer, "Imortal" and the Sharon Cuneta-Gabby Concepcion movie, "Bakit Ikaw Pa Rin."

His TV stint included co-hosting German Moreno’s "GMA Supershow" for five years. He remains a mainstay of Armida Siguion Reyna’s "Aawitan Kita Special," and co-directs "On D’Spot," a weekly TV show of which he is also the associate producer.

Among the countries where he performed are the USA, British Columbia, Japan, Hawaii, Guam, Greece, Germany, Belgium, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Indonesia.

Hence, Richard is a very much sought-after performer!

Mon Doratan produces the show through his M4U Productions.

Doctors Vicki Belo, Gertrude Chan inducted a therapy group in Italy

Filipinas are being distinguished overseas once again, not only in beauty contests but in the field of medicine, as well.

To begin with, noted dermatologist and liposuction expert Dr. Vicki Belo and her associate physicians recently had one of their case studies published in the Dermatologic Surgery journal, published by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

Having a paper published and internationally-accepted is no easy feat, yet the Belo Medical Group manages to do just that with their paper on "Effectiveness of Photodynamic Therapy with Topical Five-Aminolevulinic Acid and Intense Pulsed Light versus Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Alone in the Treatment of Acne Vulgaris: Comparative Study." For the non-medical readers out there, it means that regular patients of their famous IPL treatment will have more reason to rejoice about.

Just recently, this same Philippine "Ambassadress of Beauty," Dr. Vicki Belo, with Dr. Gertrude Chan returned from Siena, Italy where they were inducted into the International Scientific Carbondioxide Therapy Group (Gruppo Internazionale di Studio Carbossiterapia or GISC) as founding members. Dr. Belo and Dr. Chan attended the group’s strictly invitational first consensus meeting with a small group of Filipino doctors, where they all got the chance to interact with other internationally-renowned doctors and learn the latest uses and applications of Carboxytherapy.

You may have seen Dr. Vicki Belo on TV raving about Carboxytherapy, a revolutionary process that helps reduce cellulite. This procedure, when combined with other treatments such as Belo Lipolite (which uses the Vela Smooth machine) produces such remarkable results in battling "cottage cheese" dimpling so prevalent in women.

En route back to Manila, Dr. Belo stopped by Paris to attend the First European Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine. She brings back to the Philippines the latest techniques and developments in anti-aging such as Botox, Aptos Thread, mesotherapy, lasers, fillers (like Restylane and Perlane) and chemical peels.

True to her globe-trotting reputation, Dr. Belo will leave again for Atlanta, Georgia this month, where she will attend the annual meeting of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Belo, along with one of her associate physicians, will present the findings of yet another study to the delegates of this convention.

Faith Cuneta at Shang every Tuesday night

Faith Cuneta, who just had her big concert at the Music Museum (with fellow artist Juaquin) thought she won’t be performing in hotel lounges anymore, now that she’s busy promoting her album.

"For the past six years, I’ve been singing in lounges," Faith said. After her graduation from La Salle (BSBA, major, in Computer Application), she’ve been singing in various hotel lobby lounges, and after her Music Museum concert, she decided she’d "graduated" from the lounge circuit. "But they pleaded with me, and I gave in, basta one set lang every Tuesday night, starting at 9 p.m. It’s an hour and a half show however, so parang concert."

For the whole month of October, Faith will be performing at the Lobby Lounge of Makati Shangri-La Hotel in a show billed as "Faith: Love and Music at the Shang." She performs with musical director and long-time lounge pianist Eric Obach.

Faith’s repertoire consists of songs from the ’70s, ’80s, and up to the present, including her new single, a Sharon Cuneta original, "Pangarap na Bituin."

Faith said she’s excited to return to the Shang as it has been a while since she performed there. It’s a very special show, since it is a free show and people can enjoy her music while drinking or having tea at the lobby lounge.

By the way, Faith will embark on a concert tour that will kick off in Japan (Nagoya and Tokyo), and Hong Kong this November. Her US tour, hopefully will be next year.

Originally using her real name Carmela Cuneta, she was christened Faith by her manager, Jacob Fernandez when he took her under his wings. Why Faith? Maybe because Jacob is a devoted christian who’s active in Bible classes.

Faith’s big dream is to become successful as a singer, "yong makasabay ko in my shows, some of the big singing stars, at makilala rin sana ako abroad," she said. "And to have more hit songs!" Her hit single is "Pag-ibig Ko’y Pansinin." Faith is slated to release soon a CD-Lite album containing the songs "One More Try," a revival, a Martin Nievera song "Hanggang Langit" and one Korean song adapted into Tagalog.
