Philips and MTV team up for ‘Philips MTV Whatever Things’

It’s back! Philips MTV Whatever Things—the coolest, zaniest show seen in the boob tube is back to excite fans for its 3rd season.

Filled with even wackier and goofier stunts, the new season was recently launched via a huge extravaganza that saw hot bands Pedicab, Brownman Revival and Spongecola dish out their brand of pop rock.

Sponsored by Philips, the new season coincides with the consumer electronics brand’s launch of its latest line of mobile phones: the Philips 760 with its superb digital imaging capabilities; the Philips 766 with its ultra cool handwriting recognition feature; and the Philips Xenium which can support 8 and a half hours of conversation time!

According to Angelo Valenton, Philips Consumer Electronics GM, the return of the show is testament to its popularity.

"We are more than happy with the return of Philips MTV Whatever Things. We look forward to its continued success. The show’s popularity reinforces the freestyling spirit of Philips mobile phones."

The launch featured the crazy antics of the Aiya Gang, wild games and fun contests held at the Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall. Raffled off were Philips mobile phones.

Hosted by Carlo Tirona and Mariel Rodriguez, the launch was attended by Philips MTV Whatever Things fans and some of its stars namely, Nin and Potsy of the Aiya Gang. Also present were Philips Consumer Electronics Singapore’s David Seet Jin Ong, MTV Asia’s Salauddin Sulaiman and last year’s regional winner of the Philips MTV Whatever Things contest, Macky "Balls of Steel" Lim.

The launch also served to kick off the biggest all-Asia talent search dubbed Philips MTV Whatever Things MTV NY Studio Passport Contest.

The contest requires participants to submit their wackiest stunt ideas for the Aiya Gang to perform.

Creators of the most innovative, funky and freestyling idea to be judged by the gang will be flown to New York together with their best friend and hang out at MTV’s Time Square studio.

Not only will they get to watch a live MTV show, they’d get to hang out with their favorite artists and VJ’s as well! Winners of Philips MTV Whatever Things MTV NY Studio Passport Contest will also get to co-host a show on MTV Asia with Aiya leader and Hong Kong’s crown Prince of Cool, Edison Chen!
