Darna faces unbearable enemies

She may be a superhero, but the "Darna" viewers now see on GMA Network’s highly rated primetime series is at her most agonized state – not so much for the physical lashing she’s been getting from the fortified force of Braguda (Celia Rodriguez) and her ruthless Anomalkan troop, but more so for the emotional battery of being pitted against the only man she has ever loved and having to hurt him lest he succeeds in killing her.

Valentina (Alessandra de Rossi) finally had her way: She was able to transform Efren (Dennis Trillo) into the heartless Lalaking Ahas – out of his last act of nobility to save the life of his beloved Narda (Angel Locsin). Narda was able to retrieve the powerful white stone and transform into Darna once again, but she had to confront the bitter fact that she just lost Efren to her worst archenemy Valentina, who also turns out to be her sister.

Fully controlled by the dark powers of Valentina, Efren the Lalaking Ahas now pledges immeasurable love and allegiance to Valentina and vows to destroy whoever tries to harm her, be it the superhero Darna. Now that they have Efren as the powerful Lalaking Ahas, Braguda and Valentina know that they have Darna at their mercy. They know that they have pierced the very core of the superhero’s being – her heart.

As if losing the man she loves to the dark forces is not enough, Valentina and Efren capture Narda’s best friend Alice (Karen Delos Reyes) and transform her into Babaeng Tuod, whom Darna kills after a debilitating fight. Too late to realize that the Babaeng Tuod she killed was Alice, Darna is further weighed down by an enormous mixture of grief and guilt for the death of her best friend.

How far can Darna’s emotions endure the loss of her loved ones for the sake of her responsibility to save the world? Will her intensified angst resurrect Black Darna, the personification of her deep-rooted anger? Black Darna is said to be Darna’s worst enemy as she is battling it out with her own equally powerful self. But what if Darna’s new-found hatred generates more than one Black Darna? How will the good manage to triumph over the highly formidable evil forces this time?
