Starex GRX with CRDi diesel engine: Power and practicality

Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) recently introduced the new Starex GRX with Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDi) Diesel Engine which boasts of power, enhanced safety feature and a bolder look.

Using a system made by a European carmaker in 1997, Hyundai developed CRDi engine technology together with US-based Detroit Diesel. CRDi "redefines" diesel technology by making the engine run like a gasoline-powered one.

Although common rail diesels are used in some luxury cars, Hyundai is the first carmaker to offer it in the country at Starex’s price range and vehicle category.

Starex’s new CRDi engine produces a maximum diesel torque power of 145ps. Even with a high torque at low rpm, fast acceleration is possible reaching up to 180 kph.

"It is fast, quiet and economical, while maintaining the diesel engine characteristics of higher pulling power," said Fe Agudo, managing director of HARI.

Its fuel efficiency is 15 percent better than other turbo intercooler diesel engines, ensuring significant savings on fuel consumption.

With the rising fuel prices, a vehicle that can combine comfort, safety and fuel efficiency is definitely a welcome addition.

Added safety features include the 4-disc Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for ample stopping power even on slippery roads. The driver’s side airbag is also deployed rapidly to provide protection during an impact or crash. An immobilizer system was also installed as an anti-theft device. Starex GRX CRDi is backed by a three-year, 100,000 km factory warranty.

HARI is the exclusive distributor of Hyundai automotive products in the country. It now has 18 authorized dealers nationwide.
