At least 56 persons were arrested when elements of the Philippine National Police (PNP) anti-illegal gambling teams raided "lotto suerte" joints in Cagayan de Oro City over the weekend, reports reaching Camp Crame in Quezon City said.
Reports relayed by Police Regional Office 10 director Chief Supt. Dante Tejada stated the teams also confiscated large volume of "lotto suerte" tally sheets and stubs, bet money amounting to some
P9,450 and 36 motorcycle units used in the illegal gambling operations.
Chief Supt. Florante Baguio, PNP Anti-Illegal Gambling-Special Operations Task Force (AIG-SOTF) commander, said the raid was conducted by joint elements of the AIG-SOTF, PNPRegional Office 10 and 10th Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (RCIDU) at the compound owned by a certain Lan Lam Lim, also known as "Alam Lim."
According to Baguio, the AIG-SOTF will expand its anti-illegal gambling operations in other parts of the country where illegal gambling operations continue to exist.
Baguio said in his report to PNP chief Director General Arturo C. Lomibao that "Alam Lim" is a big time gambling financier of "lotto suertes" operating within Cagayan de Oro City and its neighboring provinces.
He also said charges of violations of Republic Act 9287 were filed against the arrested suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office of Cagayan de Oro City.
The arrested suspects are now detained at the 10th RCIDU office in Cagayan de Oro City.
