The Republic Central Colleges’ men and women of letters

"Total development of man based on faith, science and virtue." This philosophy of Republic Central Colleges is clearly manifested in their endeavor of supporting students to live by the tenets of responsible campus journalism. The school extends unstinted support to students who exhibit promising talents and skills in writing.

In particular, The Gleaner, the official student publication of RCC, serves as a training ground for budding journalists. The organization helps students to hone their writing skills and make them responsible leaders.

For 11 years of committed service, The Gleaner is relied upon as the main purveyor of information regarding relevant issues and development. In addition, the concern of the administration proves to be a catalyst in the refinement of students’ writing ability. During the recent Regional Press Conference in Bataan, RCC bagged major awards. Rendon Coloma, the Senior EIC, won second place in English news- writing; Julie Ann Pingul, Editor, landed third in English poetry writing; Jerome Nicolas, artist, was third place in editorial cartooning, and fourth in graphics illustration and comic strip drawing.

Consequently, during the Luzon-wide Press Conference, some writers of the Gleaner made yet another history. Jerome Nicolas won 5th place in editorial cartooning, while Julie Ann Pingul bagged the 8th place in English poetry writing. They have outshone others from hundreds of participants of different colleges and universities across Luzon.

These are a few of the students’ achievements where RCC has served as the driving force in producing students with sufficient knowledge, competent skills –necessary to meet the challenges and surpass all trials posed by the fast-changing technological world.
