Gary Valenciano is one of local music’s most well-traveled artists. Since beginning his career more than 20 years ago, Gary has toured throughout the Philippines and the world, bringing his unique brand of artistry to audiences around the globe.
Recently, Gary traveled to Bangkok, Thailand to help launch Prestige magazine in a grand event held at the posh Oriental Hotel. From there, he flew back to Manila, then on to Cebu for an inspirational concert at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. Dubbed "Gary V: Soul Full," the event served as the launching of the newly established Citichurch. The concert— which drew a record crowd of over 5,000 – reportedly making it the most successful concert ever staged at the hotel, with tickets sold out two days before the show – featured Gary with Mon Faustino, the Powerplay Band, and his sons Paolo and Gabriel.
This month, Gary is set to do yet another US tour. Dubbed "Gary Valenciano US 2005," the first leg of this tour took Gary to four US cities – Houston, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; El Paso, Texas and McAllen, Texas – for shows.
The second leg starts on Oct. 28 (Meany Hall, Seattle, Washington), with other tour dates on Oct. 30 (Cache Creek Events Center, Cache Creek), Nov. 4 (Sundome Tampa, Tampa, Florida) and Nov. 5 at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City with Zsa Zsa Padilla as Gary’s special guest. There will be two other shows to wrap up the second leg of the tour on Nov. 11 (Pechanga Auditorium, California) and Nov.12 at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles.
Aside from co–hosting "ASAP 05" every Sunday, Gary continues to reap major citations for his music. In the recent 18th Aliw Awards, Gary bagged the Best Male Concert Performance in a Major Venue (for his "Thankful" concert) and Entertainer of the Year, plus a Hall of Fame award. Last May, he was given the "Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist" trophy for the song "How Did You Know" under Star Records. This marks the second straight year that Gary took home this major award. This victory is Gary’s seventh award for the same category.
In the recording scene, Gary recently released a new album entitled "Pure Heart" under Star Records. It contains 10 breathtaking and remarkable tracks including "Ikaw Lamang," the theme from the Star Cinema movie "Dubai" which topbills Claudine Barretto, Aga Muhlach and John Lloyd Cruz and is directed by Rory Quintos.
