Wine drinking is both an art and an experience. And to enjoy the subtle pleasures of wine does not mean burning a hole in your pocket. Good quality wine, even for beginners, can be just as affordable. The key is to remember that wine works best when enjoyed in the company of friends or other wine enthusiasts.
Romania may not be well known as a wine-making country, but it has produced a pleasant surprise that even those just beginning to be acquainted with wines will enjoy. Prahova Valley wines has made its mark in the wine-drinking world, and received the highest accolades ever bestowed on a Romanian wine, and they are now available in the Philippines. Using three of the best grape varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir, it comes in three levels: table wines (vin d’table), or those aged in stainless steel barrels; and Reserves and Special Reserves, which are aged in oak barrels. Prahova Valley is affordable yet offers quality far worth its price.
Distributed locally by Brumms Quality Wines, they are available nationwide at all SM Supermarkets, Rustan’s, Shopwise, Robinson’s Supermarket, Big R, Cost-U-Less, Makati Supermart in Alabang, Landmark, Shoppersville and Unimart or at The Winery, #5 Julieta Circle, Horseshoe Village, Quezon City (Tel: 724-5211; 722-2185).
