QTV-11 opens soon to join league of free-TV channels

The long wait is over - QTC-11, GMA Network’s sister station, is slated to open on Nov. 11. On that day, it joins the league of free-TV channels as it goes fullblast in airing an exciting and colorful line-up of new shows.

The opening soon of QTV-11 had a grand launch recently at Plaza Ibarra along Timog Ave. In attendance were the bigwigs of GMA Network - Atty. Felipe Gozon, Jimmy Duavit, Wilma Galvante, Marissa Flores - and the stars of the various new shows of course.

As the newest free-TV channel with a nationwide reach, QTV-11 promises to be the home of women and the people they hold dear, with a programming grid specifically designed "to coincide with women’s daily routines and program contents that highlight what is most important to women."

As it is powered by the country’s leading network, QTV-11 is expected to provide the same superior brand of programming honed by the same expertise that propelled GMA Network to its No. 1 spot. QTV offers a wide array of programs that will surely appeal to viewers’ varied taste in entertainment, news and public service.

On QTV, viewers will see innovative programs that promises to be emotionally rewarding as well as morally enriching. "Pusong Wagi," for one, showcases real stories of kindness by people who are truly down and yet are willing to go out of their way to help others.

"It has a public service format," says Tessie Tomas, who hosts "Pusong Wagi," which will be aired on Wednesdays from 8:30-9:30 p.m. "We will feature three stories of good samaritans every week, stories of ordinary or rich people with extraordinary tales of kindness, people who go out of their way to help others, not necessarily monetary."

As it is an interactive show, texting will be an integral and important component of "Pusong Wagi," Tessie added. Viewers will text who the winners (three of them) are in every episode. They will receive prizes of course.

QTV also has its own talent search called "Fam Jam," which is a family singing TV event. This is open to all singing families with a minimum of three members, and a maximum of six, with a certified proof of relationships up to third degree of consanguinity.

Twelve families are chosen, through auditions, for each seaon. The 12 families draw lots to determine their order in the competition, which shall be divided into two rounds, at six families per round.

Each of the series of elimination will feature a different theme: OPM, English standards, Big BandSwing, Jazz, Rock n’ Roll, etc.

"Fam Jam" will be hosted by Francis and Maxene Magalona and directed by Al Quinn. The show is produced by Kitchie Benedicto Paulino and Bert de Leon.

The slogan of the show by the way is: "The family that prays together, stays together. The family that sings together, wins together." Togetherness, that is the point inculcated by "Fam Jam," which will be aired every Saturday at 5 p.m. starting on Nov. 11 on QTV.

The Ricky Reyes show "Gandang Ricky Reyes" will now be seen on QTV-11, still on a pre-lunchtime slot on Sundays.

The name Ricky Reyes is of course now synonymous to beauty, make-overs and improvement of women’s innate physical attributes, Thirteen years ago, beauty guru, beauty architect and salon czar Ricky Reyes conceived a lifestyle show titled "Beauty School Plus" which easily garnered high viewership ratings and won recognition too as Best Educational Show" and later "Best Lifestyle Show" with a new set and concept entitled "Ricky Reyes Beauty Talk."

The new "Gandang Ricky Reyes" aims to empower women by helping them improve their physical attributes, by inspiring them to become self-reliant and to live a healthy and enriching lifestyle by just watching the show

In short, "Gandang Ricky Reyes" is a show that uses beauty as a tool in promoting women empowerment, a lifestyle show that is entertaining, inspirational and educational.

And then, there’s another entertaining show that QTV offers and this is "Ganda ng Lola Ko!" which is "Golden Girls" Pinoy style in format.

The wacky family sitcom has in its cast Camille Prats as Dedeth, Kirby de Jesus (as Dodong) and the lolas: Gloria Sevilla (Lola Inday), Bella Flores (Lola Daisy) and Baby O’Brien (Lola Bridget).

Lola Inday is old-fashioned and religious but her IQ is little on the low side. Lola Daisy is a former movie extra so thinks she’s the most beautiful among them. She even thinks the neighborhood hunk has the hots for her!

Lola Bridget, on the other hand, has a modern outlook who thinks she’s so "in." She likes to be treated as one of the guys and is the most kunsintidora among the three lolas.

So watch out for these and more (like "GroupeeTV," "O, Mare Ko," a funny take on ordinary "Pinay Lives," "Liga ng Kababaihan," "Sana’y Muling Makapiling" hosted by Jessica Soho, "Moms," "Women’s Desk" and "Candies") on QTV-11 when it opens on Nov. 11.
