Philippine Tourism Authority GM Barbers urges early NAIA 3 opening for tourism, lauds Manila Hotel

Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) General Manager Robert Dean S. Barbers said yesterday the opening of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 "will surely help bolster the tourism industry in the country.’’

"We should hasten the opening of NAIA Terminal 3 in order to strengthen the country’s tourism industry. NAIA 3 will showcase more modern facilities that can be considered at par with other international airports to cater to the needs of passengers coming to and from the Philippines,’’ he said.

"It is imperative that NAIA 3 operate as soon as possible to serve the people,’’ he said.

The youthful PTA chief lauded the Manila Hotel Corporation (MHC) for its huge investment in the state-of-the-art and world-class NAIA 3.

"I personally laud the management of Manila Hotel Corporation for this travel and tourism undertaking that generates not only good income for the government, but provides employment as well for the people,’’ he said. "This gesture is undoubtedly patriotic as well.’’

The Manila Hotel Corporation has acquired the shares of Fraport AG Frankfurt Services Worldwide of Germany in the Philippine International Airport Company (PIATCO) and shares of other minor stakeholders, making PIATCO a 100- percent Filipino corporation.
