PUREFOODS CHUNKEE coach Ryan Gregorio believes Talk ’N Text will provide the real acid test for his young squad.
"We’re on a roll but it won’t give us extra points against a veteran team like Talk ’N Text," said Gregorio after guiding his team to its fourth straight win and league-leading fifth in six games.
The Giants and the Phone Pals dispute solo leadership at 6:40 p.m. today in the San Mig Coffee 2005 PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum.
Kerby Raymundo, James Yap and rookie center Jondan Salvador will again carry the fight for the Purefoods locals.
The three – all in their early 20s – are the most consistent Giants in the tournament.
Raymundo and Yap have been cited as co-Players of the Week at one point of their winning run while Salvador is coming off his best game so far in the pro league. The former PBL MVP had 21 points and nine rebounds against the Coca-Cola Tigers.
The Phone Pals, on the other hand, will again pin their hopes on veterans Asi Taulava, Mark Telan and Vic Pablo up front.
Jimmy Alapag, of course, is not among the league’s senior citizens but his brand of play is at par, if not better than, most of the veteran playmakers.
