In the perilous time of World War II, moving from one place to another had been a normal way of life for Dr. Ramon Diokno Atienza Jr. and Dra. Felicidad Ferriols Calip, founders of SAINT JUDE COLLEGE (SJC). The couple is devotees of St. Jude Thaddeus, patron of the impossible. In their passion to serve and help others, they continued what they dreamed of in life, now manifested in the realization of their dreams, the success story of these two Grand Pillars and beacon Light of SJC.


Most people look up to students according to the name of institution they are in. This is one primary reason why the youth really tries to convince their parents to let them study in a famous university or colleges where prestige is clearly visible. But somehow, students just use the name of the school in order impress other people. They do not live a life worthy to be called as ‘students’ in their respective schools.


Thinking about classical and pop music made me think of the Ballad of East and West, a poem written by Rudyard Kipling, the first few lines of which I slightly modified…


Group reading with students sharing a single book are just some of the typical scenarios that can be seen in classrooms at most public schools in the country. These settings all the more strengthens evidence of the public school system's lack of school materials. How then will students learn properly?
