Sybase sees 25% growth in revenues for 2005
Unveils latest version of enterprise database

Sybase Solutions Corp. is expecting a 25 percent growth in its revenue from licenses and services for 2005 following the release of the new ASE 15, the latest version of its enterprise database.

ASE 15 is a new approach to development using a service-oriented architecture (SOA) with Sybase Workspace as well as complementary solutions to the Rapid Application Development tool – Powerbuilder.

Randall Lozano, president and general manager of Sybase Solution said he expects a higher growth of 30 percent in 2006 with the growing number of users in the country.

With a growth of 20 to 30 percent year-on-year, Lozano said Sybase’s success rate for new customers is high at 50 percent.

"Most of the users are cost-conscious and they choose Sybase because the total cost of ownership (TCO) is 30 percent lower from the competitors on top of performance, speed, technology and support," said Lozano.

ASE 15 is the equivalent of Oracle 10g database, IBM’s DB2 and Microsoft’s SQL server.

Sybase’s impressive business growth was attributed to the 70 percent customer retention, new technologies like the mobile technology, and strong commitment to its customers and the market.

Some of the major users of Sybase solutions include Globe Telecom, Land Transportation Office, PLDT, Smart Communications, and DPWH.

Globe Telecom has the largest installation of Sybase used in its mission critical application and data warehouse. Jupiter Systems had been using Sybase development tools to develop and maintain their successful ERP solutions.

Sybase has also the first in the country and the largest successful deployment of data warehousing solution.

Its strategy is to directly engage with large enterprises customers and partner with technology giants such as Sun Microsystem, IBM, HP, Dell as well as systems integrators – MDI, Jupiter System, MidiData, Kaizen and DataPax.

The company hosted its first Philippine Sybase users conference that featured Sybase Pacific director for channel sales Mehul Rajparia and solutions architect, product and marketing and evangelist Ivan Ma.

It was well attended by Sybase clients which reflected the stronghold of Sybase in the enterprise software market.

Partner vendors Sun Microsystems and IBM Phils. had showcased their solutions with Sybase for data warehousing and low total cost of ownership (TCO) Linux database systems.

"The massive support received from our clients and partners amplify the recognition of Sybase as one of the top enterprise software vendors in the country," said Lozano.

With the addition of the new offerings from Sybase, Lozano is confident that the company would sustain the growth of its business.
