International health executives will hold a convention and exhibit during the Health Emergency Week on Dec. 5 to 7 at the Manila Hotel to help upgrade the capability of civilian and military facilities on dealing with biochemical and nuclear accidents or terrorist attacks.
The convention, organized by the Department of Health (DoH) in collaboration with the World Health Organization, is billed "Global threats – Local actions." International resource speakers will update civilian and military health executives on knowledge and skills to prepare them for their roles in case of incidents involving biological, chemical, radiological and nuclear (BCRN) agents.
The exhibit HEMS 2005, headed by Leverage International for the DoH, will feature emergency equipment, pharmaceuticals, supplies and service that will allow efficient response by government health authorities and the private sector to the severe consequences of possible terrorist attacks.
Participants are regional health emergency management coordinators, representatives of private business and academic institutions, health professionals, military and security personnel from the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Brunei and Japan.
