Asian Hospital joins crusade against breast cancer

A whole day of inspiration and interaction took place in one event as Asian Hospital & Medical Center joined I Can Serve Foundation and various sectors in a forum aptly dubbed "Silver Linings Breast Cancer Forum."

Civic groups, TV and film personalities, cancer survivors, and medical practitioners gathered together to support the campaign which provided information and guidance on breast cancer.

"Our medical team at Asian Hospital was there to enlighten the participants with significant topics on breast health. We were delighted with the outcome of the forum with many of the participants eagerly sharing their own stories and battles with the ‘Big C’," said Dr. Joel Beltran, Asian Hospital’s business development director.

The topics which Asian Hospital hosted for the whole-day event include: Communication within the family of cancer patients by clinical psychologist Dr. Ephraim H. Gochangco; A multidisciplinary approach to cancer care by oncologist Dr. Conrado C. Lorenzo; The TAO of mind, body, meditation and sound by Chi Gong instructor David Montecillo and yoga instructress Dona Tumacder; and Breast reconstruction: Looking fab! by plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr Eric E. Arcilla.

Asian Hospital conducted free medical consultations to the participants of the forum. The medical team is composed of Dr. Ignacio San Gabriel, chairman of the department of surgery; Dr. Orlando Diomampo, section chief of the general and cancer surgery; Dr. Carlos Ejercito Jr., Dr. Roland Cinco, Dr. Romarico Azores Jr., and Dr. Ma. Felina Cruz.

The "Silver Linings Breast Cancer Forum" was one of the many efforts that I Can Serve Foundation and Asian Hospital are undertaking to help address the need for information and awareness of breast cancer in the country.

For the two groups, proper information and full awareness are the most effective tools in fighting the battle against breast cancer.
