It's interesting to see a “mock battle” between two entities every once in a while. Like any other fantasy setting, the realms of Rune Midgard are home to scores of heroes, creatures and characters. But let's not tackle those. It would be a lot more exciting to witness a battle between two cities.
Here's the “tale of the tape” for our two “contenders”;
Prontera is, without doubt, the most densely populated city in Midgard. A lot of adventurers refer to it as the capital. The city is the business hub and also the seat of King Tristan's government. Handshakes (or rather, emoticons) seal deals that involve powerful and rare items that run into millions of zenny.
At the other end of the spectrum lies the belittled city of Comodo. Rarely do adventurers flock to this island except maybe to farm some items or do battle with Anolians, Fur Seals and Golems. A few parties also visit Comodo to catch some fresh air, hang out at its beaches or just take a scenic stroll at the lighthouse (while whacking a few monsters along the way).
ROUND 1 – FEATURES
The Priests of Rune Midgard have the Basilica at Prontera. Acolytes change job into Priests here. Prontera scores the first point. While Comodo is awe-inspiring in terms of scenery, there is very little to experience once you've seen the lechon and the static Casino. You could, however, buy some boost pots – Awakes and Berserks in Comodo, which makes it a stop for merchants.
Winner: Prontera (Prontera 1 – Comodo 0)
ROUND 2 – SIDE TRIPS
Just a few steps outside the walls of the mighty capital is a field of Porings. A haven for novices couldn’t get any better than this. But if you like your fair share of seafood and walking clams, Comodo is the place to go. I’ve also had the time to explore the huge volcano at the center of the beach resort and admired the awesome view from the top. Not to mention the real animated “lechon”, the curious NPCs and the “I-can’t-help-but-wonder-if-ever-gambling-will-be-implemented” Casino, then Prontera can only weep like a loser.
Comodo is also your gateway to the Lighttower and offers a lot of nice fields to level up! The alligators North of the Light House can net you some nice training for EXP!
Winner: Comodo (Prontera 1 – Comodo 1)
ROUND 3 – STRENGTH
Now that we’re all tied, we go on a deciding round as the two cities go neck and neck for the crown.
As the jewel of Midgard, Prontera is the seat of power and houses not only political might, but the military as well. Some of the best guilds in the realms have their base of operations here. And yes… the mighty guilds refer to their agits as an awe-inspiring symbol of strength!
What has Comodo to offer against this mighty repertoire?
Aha! Lo and Behold! A band of adventurers fresh from the beach city. Methinks now is the perfect time for an ambush interview!
Sharic: “Excuse me, neighbors…”
Swordie: “Amp! Ingles ka pa! Ano kailangan mo?”
Sharic: “Ah... sowee po. Wakekeke. Tanong ko lang… ano po ba ang maganda sa Comodo at galling po kayo dun?”
Swordie: “Fur Seal at Anolian… taas EXP… weeeeeeeeee”
Sharic: “Salamat po”
Swordie: “O sige… teka, may 10k ka ba dyan na extra? Pautang naman o”
Nyakk!!!! Scammer!!!!
And there you have it… for the adventurers themselves, Comodo is only good for Fur Seals and Anolians. I guess I’ll have to award the win to Prontera… sigh
Winner: Prontera
Final Score: Prontera 2 – Comodo 1
Congratulations to Prontera… our first ever winner in the new Ragnabeat series (drum roll please…) Midgard Battles (for a lack of a more creative title – wakekekeke)
Seeya next week!
