Sony Ericsson tops awards from Mobile Choice UK

Sony Ericsson has emerged as a big winner in the Mobile Choice Consumer Awards 2005 of Britain’s leading mobile industry magazine. In a glitzy awarding ceremony held in London, Sony Ericsson bested the competition in three categories.

The Sony Ericsson W800i Walkman phone, the first product to combine a mobile phone, a Walkman-quality digital music player; and a 2-megapixel camera, won for Best Music Phone.  The W800i is the first in a family of Walkman branded mobile phones carrying a brand heritage of superior music quality.

The Best 3G Phone went to Sony Ericsson V800, a clamshell camera phone designed exclusively for European network operator Vodafone. The Sony Ericsson V800 has a 1.3 megapixel camera and a big, high-resolution screen.  It can access 3G services all around the world and is sold in Europe and Japan.  The V800 was previously awarded Best 3G Handset by the GSM Association.

Sony Ericsson also triumphed with the Manufacturer of the Year award, a tribute to the company’s fast-growing mobile product portfolio.

Mobile Choice UK is releasing a special issue with a new design this month to tell readers more about this year’s winners.
