Filipina-American from Virginia is Miss Urdaneta

URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan — Mayor Amadeo R. Perez Jr. of this city said that five smart ladies based abroad whose mother or father is a native of Urdaneta City joined the search for Miss Urdaneta City 2005.

Perez said that the five lovely ladies are Leslie Ann Valencia Calaunan from Virginia, Britney C. Echalas from Hawaii, Hanan Elizarde Andaloussi from London, United Kingdom; Kristal Amber Locquiao Matthews from Sacramento, California, and Tiffany de Vera Arendon of Los Angeles, California.

Perez said that the celebration of the annual city fiesta commemorates the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, patron saint of the city, and one of its highlights is the coronation night of the Miss Urdaneta 2005.

He said that Miss Urdaneta City 2005 is a popularity contest towards the development of the city.

Meanwhile, the result of the final canvassing held last Saturday, Nov. 19, for Miss Urdaneta 2005 showed that Calaunan garnered R3,817,159,55, Arendon, R1,410,106.50; Echalas with R1,315,450; Andaloussi with R1,228,760; and Matthews with R1,213,427.80, totaling R8,984,903.85.

Perez said that because of Calaunan topping the canvassing, she is the queen of the Urdaneta City Fiesta 2005.

He cited the parents of the candidates for supporting the beauty pageant.
