The Toyota Vios, the leader in the subcompact sedan category, has outsold its closest competitor by a ratio of almost 3:1, strengthening Toyota Motor Philippines’ number one position in the local car industry.
Early this week, Toyota launched the new Vios which "aims to further strengthen Toyota’s position not only in the subcompact sedan market but also our position as a leader in the Philippine automotive industry," Kenji Nakashima, EVP of TMP, said during the launching ceremonies of the Vios.
"Since its introduction in the Philippine market in 2003, a total of 6,827 Vios have been sold. Not even the combined sales of our closest competitor’s two models managed to come close to the dominating performance of our Vios which excited the market with its design, features and the youthful attitude it exudes. Truly, it has lived up to its slogan as the car that has everything," he said.
According to him, the new Vios will surely command the attention of a new breed of customers. "The youthful and fresh features and design of the Vios perfectly complement the outstanding performance of its fuel-efficient and powerful VVT-i engine. All of these specifications make for a vehicle that has become a status symbol for our young customers who are striving to have the best things in life."
Based on the latest market results, Toyota leads the market with total sales of 29,126 units and a 36 percent market share.
Mr. Nakashima said the company has also achieved the highest ranking in the area of customer satisfaction in dealer after-sales service for the second consecutive year based on the latest survey from JD Powers.
"More importantly, we achieved this by recording the greatest improvement in overall satisfaction for 2005 among all automotive companies and leading all the categories that determine excellence in customer service delivery."
