BALER, Aurora – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that it has started work on a diversion road that bypassess three mountainous segments along the Canili-Pantabangan road (PCR) and connect central Aurora province to Central Luzon.
Sen. Edgardo Angara, who initiated the project, has already released R60 million for the construction of the 36-kilometer diversion road.
The widening and lowering of steep sections of the PCR were also included in the ongoing road work, a report submitted yesterday by Central Luzon Public Works Chief Ramon Aquino to the office of Highways Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane stated.
The project, San Luis-Ma. Aurora-Castañeda road, will interconnect the 36-kilometer route from barangay Hiwalayan in San Luis town through Baubo in Ma. Aurora and Castañeda, Nueva Vizcaya towards Pantabangan in Nueva Ecija.
The first phase of the 36-kilometer road project is expected to be finished next month, the DPWH report added. (Ariel P. Avendaño)
