Innovista Technologies Incorporated headed by its President and General Manager Mr. Alex Chan together with select group of Filipino businessmen recently visited the newly inaugurated Logitech Electronics facility in Suzhou, China. The visit was organized by Innovista to introduce to the group the new and high-tech multi-million dollar Logitech production facility.
Logitech set up the Logitech Electronics (Suzhou) Company, Ltd., in 1994 in China. After ten years, the company decided to put up an additional and bigger plant to meet the growing demands of Logitech products worldwide. The new 150 million Yuan (US$18 million) facility was inaugurated September 30 of this year but has been in operation since July 2005.
When Logitech completed the expansion of its Suzhou production facilities in China, it only took them two days to transfer operation and about four days to resume full operation. The facility has replaced its previous manufacturing facility in the Suzhou New District, which had been in operation since 1994.
Logitech said that the new facility is expected to increase the company's production capacity by 30%. As the market expands Logitech, whose mice are sold to more than 20 major Chinese and foreign PC manufacturers, will double that 30% growth rate. Last year, Suzhou's factory produced 55 million products, including over eight million mouse and six million webcams, making itself the largest among its counterparts across the world. Products to be made in the new factory include mice, keyboards, gaming controllers, webcams and remote controls.
As one of the first companies that brought electronic production industry to Suzhou, Logitech has about 5500 personnel and at the same time it also offered 30 thousand extra jobs to related suppliers worldwide.
The products from Logitech Suzhou facility contributed to half of its global sales revenue of 11.5 billion yuan (US$1.4 billion) last year.
