Question: I want to congratulate Manila Bulletin and to thank you Dr. J for this column, you are helping a lot of PC users like us by guiding and answering our PC problems. My question is I am trying to access my home computer from my work or from anywhere. I have DSL at home. Can I do this? More power. - Robert Suritan.
Answer: The answer is Yes you can. One application that allows you to do this is PC Anywhere. You need to install this application to your home PC (Host) and to your computer at the office (Remote), then configure your Host to recognize the remote computer (via IP address). It's a given that your Remote PC should be always on for you to be able to access this. Don't forget to end your session (normal logout) always. Use at least an 8 character password. You can also use the Remote Desktop connection on Windows: Start / All programs / Acccerories / Communications / Remote Desktop Connection. Goodluck!

Question: My problem is that since I transferred from Windows98 to WindowsXP, I was not able to use my LOGITECH PageScan Color Scanner. I went to their website and found out that they don't have a driver for WindowsXP. There are lots of owners of the said model that were asking for the said driver. Do you have any idea where we can have them? Thank you very much for your time. - Jady Domingo.
Answer: Visit http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=9520. If it still fails, use Virtual PC to run Windows 98 under Windows XP. You can download Microsoft Virtual PC at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx and you can run PageScan after that. You can also try VMWare or HyperOS Virtual PC.

Question: Hi,Dr. J, my PC keeps nagging me evrytime I booted, and clicked any of my file folder, it usually hang up, I tried to clean it up with my updated antivirus and rebooted it, but nothing has changed, I'd rather reinstall my Win98, & also tried to boot at command prompt, but d problem persist, it always hang, do I need to buy a new memcard, coz my PC specs are as follows - Celeron 500Mhz, 64Mb PC133, 2.1 GB HD, 40x CDROM, 1.44 floppy drive. - Jonathan Magaru.
Answer: My advice to our readers who are experiencing computer hanging, the best thing to do is to bring it to a professional and reliable computer technician so that it can be checked and fixed. Computer hanging can be caused by a lot of reasons. Trying to fix it on your own might bring more problems than solving it. Did you say 2.1 GB HD? That's a very small storage space.

Question: Hi Dr. J. How can I get my own Gmail account. I cant seem to find the Sign Up button. Most of my friends are Gmail users and I want to be one. Please help me. Thank you. - Sandy Lim.
Answer: Currently, you can only get a Gmail account if you're invited by someone who is already a Gmail user. The Sign Up button is really not availalble at this time. Ask your friends to invite you, that's all you need to do to be a Gmail user.
