Local service providers are likely to integrate their fixed and wireless networks to migrate to the next-generation network (NGN) technologies that could deliver end-user applications, third-party content, professional services and payment facilities.


Another wave of changes is likely to rock Smart Communications after several officials left the company recently. A top level meeting of PLDT and Smart executives would be meeting in the first week of December in Hong Kong led by PLDT chairman Manny Pangilinan. Those would attend the meeting are Poly Nazareno who heads both PLDT and Smart, Butch Jimenez, Al Panlilio, Ito Ramirez, Eric Alberto, Annabelle Chua, Chris Young, Atty. Ray Espinosa, Atty. Roger Quevido and Mon Isberto. The meeting is intended to fix the "infighting" within PLDT and Smart.
