Leyte Vice Governor Bagula critically injured in road accident

   

TACLOBAN CITY — Leyte Vice Gov. Ma. Mimietta S. Bagula was seriously injured and was taken in critical condition to a private hospital here after the service vehicle she was riding in was rammed Thursday night by a truck on the national highway in Barangay Daraupay, Capoocan, Leyte.

Two of her staff were also injured in the accident.

Bagula underwent a major surgical operation in the head at the Divine Word University Hospital (DWUH) here.

Her staff, Ritchel Lopez, was also seriously injured, and her driver, Raffy Villaflor, suffered fractures in the ribs. Both were treated also in DWUH.

Bagulaya and her staff were on their way to Leyte town to represent Leyte Gov. Carlos Jericho L. Petilla at an official function when she figured in the accident.

As of Friday afternoon, she was still unconscious and closely monitored by doctors.

The service vehicle was speeding towards Leyte town when a truck rammed it, causing it to turn turtle.

A backup vehicle also slammed into the truck which it was tailing. The truck which was bound for Ormoc was driven by a certain Alexander Medina Gonzales.

The Capoocan police still conducting an investigation of the accident.

The vice governor’s husband said she Mimietta had a serious head-skull injury.

She underwent two major operations last Friday night. But she remained stable, her husband said during a short talk with media people.
