Viva Greenville

Some doubting Thomases 18 years ago are standing exactly on this piece of land, at 112 Belfast Street, Greenpark Village, with their heads shaking in disbelief as men and women of good intent is laying the cornerstone of Greenville College.

Yes, their prognosis is not good, and it is rather bleak and cold. They even conclude that this soon-to-be established institution of learning would not stand the test of time. A mere flash in the pan of phenomena, claiming that private schools are sprouting like mushrooms and they doubt very much if Greenville can attract enough students to at least secure its own place, or say, carve its own niche in this highly competitive sector.

Ah, those doubting Thomases have even the gall to dismiss Greenville College then as a 'non-entity'. "It does not exist at all" – that was their favorite line then. But then Greenville must preserve and prove all these detractors wrong.

It has to be strong and tune itself to the fast changing times, or else, it will be left alone, eating the dust of those other institutions who dare and brave enough to charter the unknown future. Happily, Greenville College is reigned by steady hands. And these hands know exactly where enterprise should go.

Yes, good people run Greenville College, and, as an old adage put it beautifully, you cannot put good men or women for that matter down.

So here Greenville is, celebrating its 18th founding anniversary. Oh, that fiesta mood and that hoopla around are but fitting tribute to those people who labor night and day just for the sake of Greenville alone and lest it is forgotten everybody deserves to be happy.

Of course it is not known what the future will bring. But then again, let the future do its own course, and let the present day take care of its own business. What is necessary is that Greenville College is bounded by one and true aspiration – the longevity of the institution itself, that’s it – as it continues to educate the youth. Of course, people must aim for greater heights. Greenville College is still very young, and its potential of becoming one of the best school there is in this part of the planet is for real and not just a pigment of wild imaginations. All that it is need is dedication to alter the bar of the quality of service to a higher degree.

Greenvillians unite. They cannot rest laurels down as they brace themselves for more foundation day celebrations, perhaps, for another 16 years.
