Bill seeks to raise mentors’ monthly pay to P16,792

Public school teachers will have a good reason to celebrate should a proposal to raise their salary to a minimum of R16,792 or nearly R7,000 higher than their prevailing pay becomes a law.

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Q. Pimentel Jr. (PDP-Laban) yesterday expressed the belief that former President Joseph Estrada and his supporters are within their right to seek the intervention of the United Nations (UN) in getting justice for the detained leader and demanding his release.

Malacañang’s vision for Charter change entails a wide range of reforms that will not only restructure the degenerated political system but also render the economy more attuned to the fast-paced demands and competition of the world economy.

Baja named ‘Outstanding Filipino’

Ambassador Lauro L. Baja Jr., the Philippines’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations and twice elected president of the United Nations Security Council, was conferred "The Outstanding Filipino’’ (TOFIL) award by officials of the Philippine Jaycees Senate, sponsor of the annual TOFIL Award for outstanding achievements, at the Insular Life Auditorium in Ayala-Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
