The Far Eastern University, through the President’s Committee on Culture welcomes the Yuletide season with a choral festival titled “The Choirs and Carols of Christmas” featuring some of the school-based choirs in Manila
on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the
FEU auditorium, Nicanor Reyes, Sr. Ave., Sampaloc, Manila.
The concert will present various musical genres as interpreted by the FEU Chorale, the Philippine Children’s Choir from Mandaluyong (PCCM), Mainstream and the UST Singers.
Host choir, FEU Chorale, under conductor Emerson Hernandez opens the show with their rendition of classical and contemporary sacred compositions.
The prized PCCM under Sebastian Trinidad follows with children’s music and Filipino Christmas tunes arranged by Joy Nilo.
The choir, which has reaped honors in international choral tilts, will be accompanied by pianist-composer Alejandro.
The show takes a pop twist with sixman MainStream with their a capella medleys of John Groban songs, OPM songs, Disney themes and Christmas songs.
Composed of alumni of the famed Kundirana of La Salle Greenhills High School, MainStream is a performing group whose several musical arrangements have been recorded by the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra.
Concluding the show is the multiawarded UST Singers with their rendition of Broadway medleys arranged by musical director Fidel Calalang, as well as solemn traditional Christmas carols.
