Singson elected MAP president

   

Evelyn R. Singson, President of eBusiness Services Inc., is the president of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) for 2006.

Singson is the second woman to be elected president of MAP, with Social Security System President and CEO Corazon de la Paz as the first.

The MAP is a 57-year-old management organization whose 750 members represent a cross-section of chief executive officers and chief operating officers and other top management practitioners from the largest local and multinational companies operating in the Philippines. MAP also counts some top management educators and government officials as its members.

MAP’s mission is to promote management excellence through sharing of best management practices; educational activities that enhance the knowledge and skills of management practitioners and educators nationwide through learning forums and discussions; scholarship and training programs that produce professional managers; networking and building alliances among its members for exploring and sharing business opportunities; and advocacy for reforms that help shape a brighter future for the Philippines.

Ms. Singson finished her MBA, major in marketing, from the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. A Certified Public Accountant, she graduated magna cum laude from Assumption College with a BSC degree.

She has served as Senior Vice President of the Bancom Group, Executive Vice President of Security Bank and Trust Company, and Treasurer-Director of Security Diners International Corporation, President of the APC Group, cofounder and chair of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center, among others. She started her career as an auditor of SGV & Co.

She was the 1981 awardee for Business (Finance) of TOWNS (The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service and the 1980 honoree for Commerce and Industry of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). In 2002, she was named Outstanding Woman in the Profession by the Filipino-Chinese Federation of Business and Professional Women.

She has served on the boards or committee of other business and professional organizations like FINEX, PICPA, Women’s Business Council, among others.

Other officers of the MAP for 2006 are Franco del Rosario, managing consultant and CEO of Six Sigma Consulting, as vice president; Francisco ‘Kaiku’ H. Licuanan III, president of Innovative Property Solutions, Inc., as treasurer; Warner G. Manning, president and CEO of HSBC, as assistant treasurer; and Cynthia R. Mamon, president and managing director of Sun Microsystems Philippines, Inc., as secretary.

The other members of the MAP Board of Governors are Francisco ‘Frank’ C. Eizmendi Jr., Trustee of Institute of Corporate Directors, Carlos ‘Do’ C. Ejercito, president and CEO of United Laboratories Group of Companies, Felino ‘Jun’ A. Palafox Jr., principal architect/urban planner/founder and managing partner of Palafox Associates, and Peter L. Wallace, president of Wallace Business Forum.
