The Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) has given close to R800,000 in grant assistance to the Cooperative Bank of Benguet, Inc. (CBBI) and the Agusan del Norte-based Associates for the Integral Development (AID) Foundation.
The funds will be used to finance institutional capacity building projects of the two organizations that have been approved by ACPC.
The grant of around R390,000 to CBBI will be used to strengthen the credit operations of agricultural cooperatives in Benguet. The project aims to provide institutional capacity support to 50 agricultural cooperatives in the province. The main objective is to sustain credit delivery to small farmer producers by increasing the human resource capability level of agricultural co-ops.
The AID Foundation, on the other hand, will use its R385,000 grant for its "Enhancing People’s Organization Capacity for Development Project." The project is designed to help 10 farmer organizations in Agusan del Norte develop and enhance their organizational, administrative and financial capability.
Monitoring and evaluation of the institutional capacity building projects will be done by ACPC to ensure their successful implementation.
ACPC’s financial assistance aims to upgrade the capability of marginalized farmers nationwide to access and manage credit funds from formal lending institutions.
