DAVAO CITY—The Davao Light and Power Co. (DLPC) has been recognized as Davao City’s top corporate taxpayer for 2005.
As determined by the Davao City government late last month, the Aboitiz power firm remitted a total of R32 million for business permit fees and licenses, realty property tax and local franchise tax during the year to land first among the Top Ten Highest Corporate Taxpayers of the City in 2005 .
This is the first time that the city gave tribute to corporations that helped in generating the necessary resources for the local government.
The city hopes that his citation will serve as a motivator for other entities to be partners with the city in its growth and development endeavor.
Davao Light is the third largest privately-owned electric utility in the Philippines. It provides for the electric power needs of Davao City, as well as Davao del Norte’s Panabo City and the municipalities of Carmen, Dujali and Sto. Tomas. (GMA)
