Continuously Moving the Filipino Within Global Reach

World Citi Colleges (WCC) is an emerging educational institution dedicated to produce excellent and competent graduates that continue to rise above the throng in their passion for excellence and zeal for social responsibility.

World Citi Colleges campuses are
located in Aurora Blvd., Quezon
City, William Shaw St. Grace Park,
Caloocan City, and M.L. Quezon
Ave., Antipolo City.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

The school’s humble beginnings can be traced way back in 1971 when Medical Center of Quezon City (MCQC), a 100-bed hospital, was established. The hospital eventually branched out to education in 1979, offering the Nursing course. This necessitated in a change in name to "Quezon City Medical Center and Colleges" (QCMCC).

Mayor and Mrs. Ramon N. Guico Jr. (nee Arlyn Velicaria) of Binalonan, Pangasinan acquired the school-hospital complex in 1986. At once, they imbued the institution with a new vision and fresh enthusiasm that gave impetus to rapid and consistent growth. Believing that their acquisition of the institution is a God given ministry, the couple immediately dedicated themselves to lead in holistic and professional education that is Christian in foundation, nationalist in perspective, competency-based in curriculum, scientific in emphasis, global in scope and culturally diverse in orientation. Fresh from his graduation in AB Philosophy from the University of the Philippines in 2001, their son, Ramon V. Guico III joined them in the management of the institution. To his parents’ philosophy of education, RVG added his vision of "Moving the Filipino Within Global Reach."

Within his vision, the training of students in all courses would be geared towards achieving academic excellence in preparation for global competitiveness. The vision had to be sustained in form. The two-storey, mostly wooden QCMCC building was torn down and in its place, rose the towering 15-storey school-hospital complex equipped with hi-tech facilities, as in its fully-automated library center, medical transcription laboratories, audio visual rooms and biology laboratories.

The Nursing Department, which was founded in June 1979, was later joined in by other courses. Degrees in Physical Therapy, Radiologic Technology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Hotel and Restaurant Management and Psychology were added as well as courses in Midwifery, Respiratory Therapy, Health Aide and Medical Transcription. Many of the QCMCC alumni topped their respective Board Exams.

PRESENT TIMES

In 2001, the vision for global competitiveness became enshrined in the schools’ very name: from QCMCC to WCC – the WORLD CITI COLLEGES. The name is a tribute to Filipinos who have excelled in their respective fields of endeavor the world over and have thus, become citizens of the world; "citi" is a contraction of the word "citizen." Along with the change is the transformation of its corporate being – to World Citi Incorporated. In this development, World Citi Colleges became just one of the twin institutions of the corporation, the other half being the "Country’s First Medical Hotel," World Citi Medical Center.

By now, with its acquisition of the Holy Trinity School of Caloocan City, and the Westminster Colleges of the Philippines in Antipolo City, the learning institute has actually turned into an educational system, with two schools renamed WCC-Caloocan City and WCC-Antipolo City respectively being additional branches to the main campus, WCC-Quezon City. From a two storey, nearly rundown elementary school, WCC-Caloocan now rises eight-storeys high, a towering landmark of the city designed to accommodate 4,000 students. While WCC-Antipolo is presently undergoing massive renovation and expansions meant to encompass the five-hectare lot adjoining its present site on Manuel L. Quezon Ave.

At present, World Citi Colleges continues to expand in order to bring and service quality education to other territories. WCC inspires students to become "World Citizens," making a difference not only in the Philippines, but to the whole world as well. Guided by its vision, WCC is committed to develop students who can contribute to the academic advancement of humanity by providing excellent and holistic education with a firm Christian foundation that is relevant, responsive and research driven in curriculum, global in scope, nationalistic in perspective and finally, culturally diverse in its orientation.

WCC continues to hold its promise of "Moving the Filipino Within Global Reach," by providing its students the very best. The school provides students with competent faculty members, who are holders of post graduate and doctoral degrees to ensure the quality of its curriculum. The school’s classrooms are fully air-conditioned for comfortable teaching sessions. Finally, because of the schools very own tertiary training hospital, World Citi Medical Center, students who graduate from the school’s ranks are well-prepared once they venture out of the institution, ready to face the world.

Since the world of technology is truly dynamic, continuously provides students with the very latest in facilities and equipment for the benefit of its students. Like our fully automated library center, medical transcription laboratories with the latest equipment in the field, audio-visual rooms and biology laboratories. The school’s Nursing Department is complete with its very own diagnostic laboratory, pediatrics section, OB ward, therapy ward, orthopedic and therapy ward. The same goes for its other laboratories and facilities like the criminology, computer, pharmaceutical and chemistry laboratories.

Just recently, WCC celebrated its 34th Foundation Day with the theme, "Together We Soar at 34!". This theme is a strong statement from the school, that WCC will surely continue to soar for many more years to come, bringing quality education to more and more students of the world.
