As a senior Catholic Church leader advised outspoken bishops of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) to shun politics and focus more on the young and the poor, the question remains if the Church can shift from making concerns on political matters, to promoting moral values and defense of family and life. He added that "we have to use new approaches, techniques, and methodologies with our new leadership under Bishop Angel Lagdameo".

8 students die in Sampaloc fire

8 STUDENTS DIED HERE.
Firemen battle a blaze that destroyed this two-story commercial-residential building at 833 P. Campa St., Sampaloc, Manila early yesterday morning. The fire broke out at 3:36 a.m. and was placed under control at 5:46 a.m. The fire trapped and killed eight students who were boarders in the building. (Pol Briana Jr.)
