Burglary in starlet’s house puzzles Binangonan probers

BINANGONAN, Rizal – Police are recommending that polygraph test be conducted on the relatives of starlet Anna Luna who was reported to have lost P1 million worth of assorted pieces of jewelry and cash earlier this week.

This came about as the mother of Luna, who is Rechelle Falcon in real life, has sought the assistance of the Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) following the discovery of the heist last January 3.

Supt. Rodino Elfa, chief of the Investigation Division of the Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO), said the Binangonan police has been directed to subject Falcon’s male cousin, Crisanto Baston, who is also the caretaker of her house, and the starlet’s alleged boyfriend, Jose Marie Evangelista, to further investigation since the two were the last persons who had access to the starlet’s house.

It was also learned that Baston keeps the key to the house and the room of the starlet.

Luna was in Japan when the alleged break in happened, Binangonan police said in its report to the PPO.

Initial investigation showed that the robbery that took place in Falcon’s house at St. Monique Valais Subdivision in barangay Pantok, this town, was reported by the victim’s mother, Maria Cecilla Falcon, to the Rizal PPO.

Binangonan police said Luna’s mother, who lives in Cavite, claimed that she went to the house of her daughter and found out that Luna’s jewelry and cash kept in her traveling bag were missing.

The discovery of the robbery came after Luna informed her mother through her text message from Japan that her boyfriend alleged that somebody was seen leaving the starlet’s house last January 1.

Luna’s mother told Binangonan police that before the discovery of the robbery, she visited her daughter’s house last December 29 and left on the same day with Baston.

During questioning, Baston reportedly told Binangonan police that he was left alone in the house after Luna went to Japan last December 15. However, Baston claimed that Evangelista visited the place on December 22.

Inspection by probers from Binangonan and the PPO Investigation Division revealed that there was no sign of forcible entry and that other things inside the house were left untouched, prompting the police to theorize an inside job.
