Fifty more key field officials of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) holding positions from regional director down to revenue district officer (RDO) were reshuffled yesterday as part of the agency’s effort in hitting its R647-billion collection target for the year.
This brought to more than 60 the number of field officials given new assignments since the revamp program was initiated two weeks ago.
"More field officials will be given new assignment in the coming weeks to strengthen our tax information and collection drive in order for us to reach the huge tax goal," said BIR Commissioner Jose Mario Buñag.
He said that like in previous reorganizations, the latest travel assignment orders were based on performance and the policy of limiting the stay of a field official for only three year in a place of assignment.
Among the most notable changes include the transfer of Makati Revenue Regional Director Anselmo to Valenzuela City and his replacement by lawyer Nelson Aspe, chief-of-staff of the operation service; Director Antonio Montemayor from the Office of the Commissioner to Cagayan revenue region, Director Norberto Vitug from Cagayan to Baguio City, Director Alfredo Balicanta from Baguio City to Pangasinan, and lawyer Manolo Rodriguez from the Office of the Commissioner to chief of the enforcement service.
The RDOs who were transferred to new assignments in Metro Manila and elsewhere include Rosemarie Ragasa to Binondo, Manila; Alejandro Polca to Parañaque City, Gerry Florendo, chief of the audit and investigation division to the Large Taxpayers Service (LTS), Ricardo Espiritu, Pasay; Rodolfo Tamani to Lipa City; Alcasabas to Cavite; Myrna Leonido to San Pedro, Laguna;
Dante de Castro to Novaliches, Quezon City; Virgilio Cembrano to the Makati LTS; Erlinda Pantanilla to Calamba City, Laguna; Jose Boy Paulino to Bulacan, Mars Quito to Masbate; Socorro Lozano to Iligan City; Quirino Ramos to Cabanatuan City;
Cresencio Agad to Dipolog City, Roberto Bucoy to Zamboanga City, Aldo Esmena to Baler, Aurora, Wilma Rivera to Cebu City South; Willie Narnola to Quiapo, Manila; Benito Wong to San Fernando City, La Union, Yolanda Ferrer to Urdaneta, Pangasinan; and Rodolfo Mindanao to Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
