The party season is over but the holiday mood lingers in our Queen City of the South because of the Sinulog celebration in honor of Cebu’s patron saint, the Señor Sto. Niño.

The big parade is on Sunday, the 15th, but the religious procession is on Saturday, the 14th, starting out at the Basilica Minore de Sto. Niño all the way to the major city streets and then back to the Basilica.

Just like in previous years, this procession will bring together people from all walks of life, making it the best attended religious procession this side of the globe.

It was a time for renewing ties, remembering, and rejoicing for the alumnae of the Colegio dela Immaculada Concepcion when they had their homecoming and the culmination of the school’s 125th founding anniversary.

Immaculadistas of all ages, and the nuns of the Daughters of Charity from all over the country (numbering 60) congregated at the CIC campus.

The day began with Holy Mass at Mary’s Little Theater with liturgy prepared by CICAA adviser Sr. Ana Amar.

The traditional churros y chocolate breakfast came next followed by a field demonstration presented by the CIC students.

The activities included the viewing of a memorabilia exhibit, and the election of CICAA officers for 2006 2008.

In the evening, there was a ""Fellowship Night" at the Waterfront Cebu Ciy Hotel where 12 outstanding alumnae and Hall of Famer philanthropist Felisa Yap Chiongbian were honored.

They were Elizabeth Jajalla Magay for Agriculture/Education; Dr. Desiree Montecillo Narvaez for Medicine/Public Health; Ma. Luisa Bilbao Ros for Communication and Culture Training; Filna Espina for Architecture; Dr. Cynthia Ramos Leynes for Medicine/Psychiatry; Thelma Jimenea Chiong for perseverance in the search for truth and justice; Dr. Rafaelita Pelaez Golez for Management/Education; Josefina dela Fuente Matheu for Education/Apostolic Vocation; Anita Cabahug Trasmonte for Music and her contribution to the CICAA; Ana Marie Escaño for her contribution to the Vincentian Marian Youth; Pilar Jarque Loop for Media Practice and Josefina Maranga for Sports.

CIC principal Sr. Zenaide Condes D.C. gave the opening address while Sr. Teresa Mueda D.C., Visatrix of the Daughters of Charity of the Phil. Prov., gave the inspirational message.

Frontliners at the gathering were CICAA president Stella Solero Bernabe who was on top of the whole affair, homecoming 2005 chair Mariter Klepp and their team, plus the jubilarian honorees.
