Good Gets Better

After ten years of successfully operating the Mann Hann chain of restaurants, the Chua family, together with their new partners, have embarked on a new venture; opening the new Mecca of home cooked Filipino food, appropriately named, Mannang.

In the highly competitive restaurant industry, Mannang has managed to carve a niche with a growing loyal clientele. Aside from continuing with the winning formula that Mann Hann is known for, delicious, home cooked meals at very reasonable prices, Mannang incorporates trendy presentations to every dish which results in a cuisine that is both pleasant to the palate as well as to the eyes. A harmony between the old and the new is how I see it. Mannang reinvents old heirloom recipes combining taste and tradition with modern ingredients and presentation. Their home cooked style means that meticulous detail is practiced in choosing the freshest ingredients and the proper handling of each and every dish.

Located at the lower ground floor level of SM Megamall building A, Mannang provides a welcome

Ginataang Isda

break to the weary shopper or any business person on their break. With a trendy, yet cozy atmosphere, Mannang is sure to make the average person or even the staunchest connoisseur feel comfortably at home.

They have the best pork barbeque in town. Mannang’s formula is simply going back to the basics. Away with the typically heavy basting sauce that usually results in that overly sweet meat, Mannang’s barbeque is made up of juicy liempo meat, lightly seasoned to ensure the proper balance of sauce and the natural taste of the meat. Not unlike the pork barbeque, the chicken barbeque is done in the same way. What is special about their chicken barbeque is that they use native, free ranging chicken. This means that their chicken is grown naturally, without any chemicals normally found in mass produced chicken. A healthy chicken barbeque, now who wouldn’t want that?

Another appetizer favorite is the lumpiang shanghai sili. Odd as it may sound, it does not get any better for the fire eating aficionado. It is actually stuffed sili wrapped in lumpiang shanghai wrapper, perfect to get the meal going.

For oyster lovers, they have an incredibly good valued baked oyster dish served with various topping combinations. Aside from this, the classic Mann Hann oyster cake has been reinvented giving it an Italian-Japanese twist resulting in the cheesy oyster cake. It’s the classic oyster cake, baked with cheese, which reminds me of the okonomiyaki Japanese favorite.

Pancit palabok negra, ginataang isda, tofu sisig, adobong pusit, sinigang na corned beef, to-die-for callos, and incredibly good lengua accompanied with Mannang’s signature black rice would make you feel like you haven’t eaten for a week by the way your mouth waters. And what meal would be complete without dessert? Mannang features and array of Filipino and fusion desserts such as the classic halo-halo, banana turon, buko sherbet, cold taho, and two Filipino inspired cheesecakes, mango as well as banana cheesecakes. When in the end, you start feeling just a tad guilty after a well deserved meal, Mannang provides classic home brewed salabat to wash away your indulgences. Home cooked meals just don’t get any better, except in knowing that you don’t have to actually cook it yourself!

Mannang and Mann Hann have always stayed true to serving delicious, interesting food, without any pretensions. It is not unlike food you would enjoy at your family’s Sunday luncheon. A warm, cozy atmosphere, with food lovingly prepared like all our lolas; it just doesn’t get any better than this.
