Designer Profile: Pepsi Herrera
spacer

Describe a Pepsi Herrera creation.

A Pepsi Herrera gown would be one that exudes elegance and sexiness, no matter what measurements the bride has. I try to hide the unwanteds and flaunt the

beautiful. While doing this, I always keep in mind to stay clean and simple because for me the gown will come out beautiful and timeless.

What inspires you?

Several elements inspire me to produce a gown, namely, the bride herself. The personality of the

Pepsi Herrera
bride which will help me determine the design, the places I’ve seen, and of course, fabrics because different fabrics have different falls and I love to experiment and come up with a different gown each time.

Who is your style icon?

I love Ungaro.

What is your design philosophy?

I must first get to know the bride, her personality, her measurements, her likes

and dislikes. Then, we put our ideas together for the perfect gown for her.

What differences do you see in brides of today from those of the time you started designing?

Brides now prefer simpler designs, which I love. In the past, brides loved to have ruffles and plenty of beadwork on their gowns. Going with the times, I guess simplicity is best.

What trends do you foresee for this year?

Although simplicity is in the air, I predict that more elaborate

sillhouettes and beadwork are coming.

Any advice for brides-to-be?

Stay as simple as you can with the design of your dress. The gown should not overpower you . Same goes for your bouquet. Choose something that fits your personality. You wouldn’t want to feel uneasy or pretentious

the whole day. I also suggest that brides-to-be watch their diet. You will have time since, usually, you see the designer at least 6 months before your special day. Practice walking with high heels. You wouldn’t want to look ackward while you walk down the aisle. And most important of all, smile!

Who is your most memorable bridal client?

The memorable bride would be the one whose wedding was in Boracay because of several factors:

1) The bride was absolutely beautiful, sexy and fun,

and she had the perfect body for the design I had made for her.

2) The reception and ceremony venues were heavenly. It was done on the beach and the timing was perfect. They exchanged "I DOs" at sunset. It was like paradise. The flowers and the table setting was just fantastic.

3) The atmosphere was so solemn, with just close friends and family attending. I really enjoyed it. For me, it was a perfect wedding.
