Following the successful launch of its groundbreaking facility, the International Academy of Film & Television (IAFT) announces the establishment of a Scholarship Fund for qualified students based on both academic and financial criteria. Designed to provide assistance to those who are actively pursuing a filmmaking certificate for the One-Year Immersion Program, the Fund will serve the scholarship needs of (AFT’s student body regardless of race, gender, or religious affiliation.
While the number of scholarship disbursements will vary from session to session and year to year, three assistance programs have already been established: two merit-based awards, CineLikha Young Filmmaker Scholarship and Emergent Artists Award, and one need-based award, the IAFT Lumiere Fellowship. Awards with a total value of over US,000 will be granted based on student’s annual income (for need-based awards) and prior creative history and demonstrated potential (for merit-based awards).
"We’re very excited about the start of the first session of our full-year immersion program here on our beautiful beach side campus in Cebu," remarks Kacy Andrews, CEO of Bigfoot Entertainment. "In order to share in our excitement, we invite financially-challenged aspiring filmmakers to apply for one of our scholarship programs. We believe that personal finances shouldn’t impede the growth of young artists in the film community."
Another benefit of the synergy between IAFT and its parent company, Bigfoot Entertainment - an integrated production and entertainment company - will be the establishment of an internal work-study program that will provide the opportunity for students to satisfy their financial obligations by working directly for Bigfoot Entertainment, an experience that will assist them in the creation of their professional reel as well as undoubtedly prepare them for the rigors of working in the entertainment industry.
Although requirements for each program will vary, all scholarship students will be required to participate in IAFT’s work-study program (determined by the individual’s scholarship needs). Along with fulfilling their financial obligations, all scholarship students must meet a host of other criteria, which includes remaining in satisfactory academic standing.
Founded in 2003, the Academy houses a myriad of resources exclusive to the region, including a Dolby-certified sound mixing theatre, ADR and Foley studios, Final Cut Pro digital editing suites, and a fully-functional Hollywood-style soundstage dedicated to production services for IAFT and Bigfoot Entertainment.
