From flipping burgers to singing sensations
They can whip up a Big Mac in a matter of seconds, take your order with the warmest smile and clean your table in a jiffy.
But who knew they can also carry a tune?
McDonald’s, the world’s number one quick service restaurant, seeks to discover amazing talent from its crew and managers with the "Voice of McDonald’s" singing competition.
"Voice of McDonald’s" is the first global singing contest within the McDonald’s chain of restaurants.
The contest, which extends to 120 countries where McDonald’s currently operates, will each yield winners to represent their country.
Participants will be narrowed down to 10 finalist who will be flown to the Unites States for a chance to compete in the "Voice of McDonald’s" grand finals.
The grand prize winner will receive ,000 and the opportunity to perform at the McDonald’s Worldwide Convention at the McDonald’s head quarters in Chicago.
"Voice of McDonald’s" will also get to watch the finals of American Idol live.
From more than 250 McDonald’s branches in the Philippines, 10 McDonald’s employees were picked and staged show–stopping performances at the grand finals of "Voice of McDonald’s" held at Tavern Square, Makati.
"I’m so glad that our McDonald’s employees not only do fantastic job, but that they also have tremendous talent as well. In fact, they were all very good and it was a difficult decision for us to choose the winner," said judge and Golden Arches Development Corp. (GADC) president George Yang.
Eugene Manimtim, a crew member from McDonald’s Balayan, Batangas, took home the R10,000 grand prize with his rendition of "Flying Without Wings."
First runner–up award went to Maricar Quemada, first asst. manager of McDonald’s Davao Illustre branch; followed by 2nd runner–up Jude Abase, a restaurant manager from McDonald’s Lemery, Batangas.
A special prize was awarded to Lulu Crescencio, MRM staff from McDonald’s Kabihasnan, Parañaque.
Together with the three winners, she will be eligible to represent the Philippines in the "Voice of McDonald’s" world finals.
The panel of judges headed by GADC president George Yang included composer Louie Ocampo, Center for Pop Music president and founder Butch Albarracin, GADC VP-marketing Margo Torres and choir master Patrick Frias.
GADC managing director Kenneth Yang was also present to lend his support to the "Voice of McDonald’s" hopefuls.
All four winners will receive vocal coaching from the Center for Pop Music before they submit their respective video entries to compete in the "Voice of McDonald’s" world finals.
