The First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) hosts the 3rd North Batangas Summit on January 27. With the theme "Calabarzon Growth Corridor: Balancing Ecology and Economic Development," the summit is organized to help spur the growth of the Calabarzon area. All government officials, non-government organization heads, community leaders, businessmen, educators and residents of the area are invited to attend.
Saturnino Belen, Chairman ofthe Bato Balani Foundation and President of First Asia Institute opens the summit with an introduction of the North Batangas summit and a progress report of past summit accomplishments. Congresswoman Vickie Reyes of District III speaks on the development and growth prospects of Taal’s lakeside communities and will discuss how the interests of the different stakeholders can converge for the development of North Batangas. This is followed by a presentation by National Development Corporation general manager Arthur Aguilar on the NDC’s infrastructure development plan for Calabarzon.
A discussion on the business opportunities in Calabarzon is led by Richard Albert Osmond, chair of the Regional Development Council in Calabarzon while Patis Tesoro of Katutubong Filipino Foundation presents a survey of the rich heritage of Southern Tagalog in Filipino culture. A kapihan also takes place to tackle North Batangas and Taal’s Lakeside Communities: Problems and Opportunities. It focuses on how North Batangas and Taal’s Lakeside Communities grow together in progress and the models that can be used to ensure the integration and alignment of goals and objectives.
