Celebrating Philippines-Japan relations THE golden anniversary celebration of the normalization of Philippines-Japan diplomatic relations was launched recently with a festive opening event at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), with Japanese Senior Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Yasuhisa Shiozaki in attendance. Know your preamble IF you think the preamble of a constitution is nothing more than a list of decorative motherhood statements written in elegant language, you are gravely mistaken. The preamble is vital because it is a firm declaration of national purpose and a clear statement of the enduring principles that guide the State and its people. By analyzing a preamble, one can have an inkling of what a nation went through just to have that Constitution written, approved, and promulgated. That is probably why the preamble proposed by the majority of the Consultative Commission does not bode well for our future. They lifted it verbatim from the 1973 Marcos Constitution.

— Anne Bronte

Pleasure without guilt IT’S a sin to steal. It’s also a crime. So why don’t we feel guilty watching pirated movies on DVD?
