Mobile Camera Phone Tips
With digital camera fast becoming a default fixture to mobile phones, people can just take pictures anytime and anywhere they want. Regardless whether you're a pro or a novice photographer, we all have one thing in common - all of us wants to take a good and clear pictures. And with the availability of high-resolution camera-equipped cellular phones, the equipment is very capable of doing that. So it's no longer an equipment issue, but a human and talent issue.
If you are one of the millions out there that have a camera phone and want to take the best picture possible, here are some tips to get you started:
1. Make sure that you clean the lense. This may sound simple, but most camera phone users ignore this. More often than not, people put their fingers over the lense when using their phones. Clean it or you might end up having a photo with fingerprint overlay.
2. Hold the camera phone steady and firm, using two hands if possible. Don't move while taking pictures and press the shutter button smoothly. Most blur comes from jamming the button down and moving the camera.
3. To take the best pictures possible you should understand the capabilities of your camera. Two of the most important are resolution, and white balance. Resolution will affect how your picture looks. You should shoot your pictures at the highest resolution setting on your phone for the best results. White balance, if available on your phone, should be adjusted so that colors appear natural.
4. Check the resolution of your camera phones. The latest mobile phones are equipped with resolution choices. Take the same picture using the setting options provided, pick the one you like best and stick with it.
5. Use the highest resolution possible on your camera phone. The higher your resolution the clearer your shot will be. It's a trade-off between quality picture and memory usage. The higher the resolution, the bigger memory it consumes.
6. Use simple and uncluttered backgrounds. Try to keep other people, clutter, random cars or buildings out of the background of your photos. Move your subjects to a place with a simple background and good light before you take your pictures.
7. Move in closer to your subject than using the zoom function. The closest focusing distance for most cameras is about three feet, or about one step away from your camera. If you get closer than the closest focusing distance of your camera, your pictures will be blurry.
8. Determine your flash range. User's normally take pictures beyond the flash's range which results to darker pictures. For many mobile cameras, the maximum flash range is less than fifteen feet or about five steps away.
9. Name your photos rather than using the default camera-phone naming convention. Naming it will help you identify the picture easier in the future and will help you organize it.
10. Offload your pictures frequently, either to the Web or your computer. This will free up memory for more pictures. Add more memory to your camera phone. The more memory, the more photos, and the more likely you are to capture a magic moment. If you are traveling, many photo stores can transfer your images to CDs so you can keep on shooting.
11. Always observe camera phone etiquettes. Respect others privacy by asking for permission before you snap someone's picture. Never use camera mobiles in banned places like museums and theaters. Shut the camera lens when not in use so that people might not suspect that you're taking a picture of them. Do not post photos on the Internet without the subject's consent.
12. MoBlog is also all over the web. MoBlog is a blend of the words "mobile" and "weblog". MoBlogs contain a lot of pictures taken using camera phone. Visit this kind of sites and get some pointers how others are taking their pictures using their mobile camera phones.
Camera phones are intended to be a convenient way to take and share spur of the moment photos with friends and family. Like any other device, it can be abused and will take some time before you can achieve the kind of pictures you want to take. Be patient and practice a lot. You can always delete them if it came out not to your liking.
